Question 25370: How do I graph 2x-y=4 & 2x-y=6 ? I have tried everything I can think of.
Answer by Died2Soon(6)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
First of all you need to get the Y by its self. You need to use the Formula Y=MX+B
I'll use 2x-y=6 as the example.
First subtract 2x from both sides like this: 2x-2x-y=6-2x
You should get: -y=-2x+6
Now divide both sides by -1. You should get this: y=2x-6
The -6 is the Y-intercept and the 2 is the slope. So find -6 on the Y axis and put a point. Now go up 2 spaces and right 1 space, and place a point now draw the line.
2x-y=4 is the same thing but with different numbers.
just subtract 2x from both sides to get: -y=-2x+4
then divide by -1 on both sides to get: y=2x-4
The -4 is the Y-intercept and the 2 is the slope. So find -4 on the Y axis and put a point. Now go up 2 spaces and right 1 space, and place a point now draw the line.
Good Luck
=)
