Question 250272: graph {3x-y>5} and {x+3y>= 6}
My answer
3x-y=5 x+3y=6
-y= -3x+5 3y= -x + 6
y=3x-5 y= -1/3x+2
solution solution
x y x y
0 -5 0 2
1 -2 3 1
2 1 6 0

Now I have graphed this - but I don't understand how to shade it correctly
pls help!

Congratulations, you've done the algebra correctly!

Now, plot the points in the cartesian plane to obtain the line.

When we deal with "greater than" or "less than" inequalitites, we draw a dashed line - - - - to connect the points. Then shade the area above the line if it's "greater than"; or below the line if it's "less than".

Similarly, when we deal with "greater than or equal to" or "less than or equal to" inequalitites, we draw a solid line to connect the points. Then shade the area above the line if it's "greater than or equal to"; or below the line if it's "less than or equal to".

Done!
