Question 244533: 9x+3y=6
Answer by richwmiller(17219)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
9x+3y=6
since this is a linear equation( an equation that produces a straight line) we only need to enter two values on the graph.
the easiest two to calculate ate when y=0 and when x=0
when x=0 we get 3y=6 so y=2
when y=0 we get 9x=6 so x=6/9 or 2/3
we can also divide the whole equation by 3
3x+y=2
which would produce the same line.
we can also solve for x=1 and y =1
if x=1 then we have
9x+3y=6
9+3y=6
subtract 9 from both sides
3y=-3
y=-1
or
3x+y=2
3+y=2
subtract 3 from both sides
y=-1
if y=1 we have
9x+3y=6
9x+3=6
subtract 3 from both sides
9x=3
x=1/3
3x+y=2
3x+1=2
subtract 1 from both sides
3x=1
x=1/3
I would plot the two points with just whole numbers
