Question 225208: I need to know if x+2y=9 and 2x+4y=3 are perpindicular?
Answer by LtAurora(115)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Have to get both of them into y-intercept form.
So, first one:
Move the x over:

Divide both sides by 2:

Second one:
Move the 2x over:

Divide both sides by 4:

To find out if they are perpendicular, compare the slopes:
In the first one , and in the second one, also.
To be perpendicular the slopes need to be negative and inverse of each other. These slopes are equal, so the lines are parallel.
So, no, not perpendicular.
