Question 224332: Solve the system of equations by graphing:

2y-6=0
x+8y=16

Solve the system of equations by graphing:

2y-6=0
x+8y=16

1. Graphing the two leads to the following picture:

2. ANSWER: Based on the graph, the two lines intersect at point (-8, 3) or x=-8 and y=3.

Check if the point (-8,3) satisfies the equations:

2y-6=0 so at y=3 then 2*3-6=0 which is a true statement.

x+8y=16 so at x=-8 and y=3 then -8+8*3=-8+24=16 which is a true statement.

So the intersection point (-8,3) is a solution to the system of equations.

I hope the above steps and explanation were helpful.
