Question 212993: If an object on Earth is projected upward with an initial velocity of 32 feet per second, then its height after (t) seconds is given by: h(t)=32t-16t^2. Find the maximum height attained by the object and the number of seconds it takes to hit the ground.
I began like this:
h(t)=-16t^2 + 32t
-32/2(-16)=-32/32=1
-16(1)^2 + 32(1)
-16+32=16 and now I am stuck!

You're pretty much done. What you just did was find the vertex of . The vertex is (1,16) and at the vertex is the max value of h(t) (ie the height). So the max height is 16 ft (which occurs at t=1 second).
