the average cost of an ad in the 1998 superbowl was 1.3 million and in 2006 2.8 million a find the slope of the line through (1998,1.3) and (2006,2.8)interpret your answer.
slope = (2.8-1.3)/(2006-1998) = 1.5/8 = 3/16
Interpretation: Every 16 years the cost of an add will increase
by 3 million dollars
---------------------------------------------------------------------
b)use the slope to estimate the average cost of an ad in 2002.
2002 is 4 years after 1998. If the increase is 3 million in 16
years it should increase by (1/4)*3 million in 4 years
1.3 + (3/4) = 2.05 million
---------------------------------------
Is your estimate consistent with the accompanying graph?
Your graph did no show up on your post.
---------------------------------------
c) use the slope to predict the average cost in 2010?
2010 is 12 years after 1998
(10/16)*3 = 1.875 million
1.3 + 1.875 = 3.175 million
