Question 197426: Find the vertex of the given parabola. Give all values correct to 3 decimal places.
y = 4x2 - 5x + 4
not sure what I am doing wrong on this I am using -b/2a to get one vertex and then using the quadratic formula and putting my answer from the first set (x) and it is not coming out correctly. can someone help and put me on the right track
thanks

Answer by stanbon(75887)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Find the vertex of the given parabola. Give all values correct to 3 decimal places.
y = 4x^2 - 5x + 4
---------------------
a = 4, b = -5, c = 4
------
x = 5/(2*4) = 5/8
000000000000000000000000000
f(5/8) = 4(5/8)^2 - 5(5/8) + 4
f(5/8) = (25/16) - (50/16) + (64/16)
f(5/8) = (39/16)
-------------
Vertex: (5/8, 39/16)
