Question 19595: Hello,
Please help me with the following: Write the equation of a line through (-3,5) that is parallel to line 2x-y=12

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
2x-y=12
-y=12-2x
y=2x-12
compare with 'y=mx+c'
m=2,c=-12

m refers to slope,therefore slope of this line is 2
we need to find the equation of some line which is parallel to this
so the line we need will also have slope 2

Now our line has slope 2 and passes through point(-3,5)
using straight-line equation of slope-and-point form we get
y-b=m%28x-a%29
where m is slope,and (a,b) is the point it passes through
y-5=2%28x-%28-3%29%29
y-5=2%28x%2B3%29
y-5=2x%2B6
y=2x%2B6%2B5%7D%7D%0D%0A%7B%7B%7By=%282x%2B11%29

Hope this helps,
