I'm having trouble graphing a "PieceWise" function. The problem:
g(x)={x if x >= 0
{x^2 if x < 0
I have graphed half of the absolute value function from (0,infinity) and half the squaring function from (infinity,0) on the same graph. Can this be done because the absolute value function would color the origin point (0,0) in while the squaring function leaves the origin (0,0) open? I'm probably way off.
I hope this is clearly stated.

I'm assuming that you mean that you graphed the function on the interval
. If so, then you have the correct graph.
Yes you are right. The first function would have a closed circle at the point (0,0) while the function would have an open circle.
By the way, the graph should look like this
