Question 17814: Solve.
The formularN=0.07x + 4.1 modles the number of women, N, in million, enrolled in U.S college x years after 1984. how many years after 1984 is the projected enrollment for women expected to reach 6.2 million? In which year is this projected?

N=0.07x + 4.1 ...is the relation given between N and x
..we are given n=6.2 and asked to find x..substitute the value of N given in the above eqn. and find x
6.2=0.07x+4.1
0.07x=6.2-4.1=2.1
x=2.1/0.07=2.1*100/(.07*100)=210/7=30
x=30...or 30 years after 1984 the population of women would be 6.2 million.
