Question 177060: State the amplitude, period, phase shift and vertical translation of the function:
f(x)= 3cos(2x-3(pie)/4)-1. Sketch one cycle of the function

Answer by stanbon(75887)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
State the amplitude, period, phase shift and vertical translation of the function:
f(x)= 3cos(2x-3(pie)/4)-1.
----
f(x) = 3cos((1/2)x - (3/4)pi) - 1
a = 3 ; b = 3/2 ; c = (3/4)pi ; d = -1
------------------
amp = 3
period = 2(pi)/b = (2pi)/(3/2) = (4/3)pi
phase shift = c/b = (3/4)pi / (3/2) = (1/2)pi
vert trans: -1
