What's the equation of a line that passes through points (0,-1) and (2, 3 )?
---------------------
The easiest way to do these is using determinants.
------------
|x y 1|
|0 -1 1| = 0
|2,3 1|
--------
x*(-1-3) - y*(0-2) + 0+2 = 0
-4x + 2y = -2
2x - y = 1
---------
Both points fit.
