4x+2y=12
First, we need to put this equation into slope-intercept form which is:
y=mx+b where m is the slope and b is the y-intercept(value of y when x=0)
Subtract 4x from each side:
4x-4x+2y=-4x+12 collect like terms:
2y=-4x+12 divide each term by 2
y=-2x+6 so the slope is -2
