Remember that the slope-intercept form of the equation for a line gives you two pieces of information. The slope, m, and the y-intercept, b.
Remember too, that parallel lines have identical slopes.
So you have all of the neccessary information to write down the equation of the line that is parallel to the line 2y = -4x + 8. You need to find the slope of this line which you can do by writing the equation in the slope-intercept form:
y = mx + b
Divide both sides by 2.
So the slope, m, is -2. This will be the slope of the new line as well. You are also given the y-intercept of the new line, b = 3.
