: I really need help please on this graphic equation. I need to draw a graph of an equation that contains two x-intercepts, -2 and 3. At the x intercept -2, the graph crosses the x-axis; at the x-intercept 3 the graph touches the x-axis. I'm lost!!! There are no ordered pairs so what shall I do? Help me please!!! draw a graph of an equation that contains two x-intercepts, -2 and 3.
:
Write the equation for this; we know x=-2 and x=3
Therefore the factors can be (x+2)(x-3) = 0
FOIL these and you have:
x^2 - 3x + 2x - 6 = 0
x^2 - x - 6 = 0 is the equation
:
Plot y = x^2 - x - 6, for x = -4 to x = +5, it should look like this:

Note the x intercepts are x=-2 and x=+3
