Question 150146: i need help with this problem any help on how to do it is greatly appreciated. Also on whats it talking about im not sure either thank you for the help.
Point A (-4,1) is in the standard (x,y) coordinate plane. What must be the coordinates of point B so that the line x=2 is the perpendicular bisector of line AB?

Answer by Fombitz(32388)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x=2 is a vertical line.
A line perpendicular to a vertical line must be horizontal.
Horizontal lines have a constant y.
So, we know the y coordinate of point B must be 1.

To be a bisector, the vertical x=2 line must be the same x distance from Point A and Point B.
The x-distance from line x=2 to (-4,1) equals

6 units to the right from x=2 is x=2+6=8.
Point B must be at (8,1).
