Question 147974: I am working on a word problem but am not sure if I am getting it correct.
The width of a rectangle is 12 cm. What lengths will make the perimeter greater than 80 cm?
I have A= L*W
L*W>80
W= 12
L*12>80
L= 68
But because a rectangle has four sides, should it be
W = 12(2)
L * 12(2)> 80
L*24 > 80
L = 56
Thank you for your help

Answer by oscargut(2103)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Perimeter = P=2(L+W)
W=12 and P>80
then 2(L+12)>80
then L+12>40
then L>28
Answer: lengths greater than 28 cm
