You will have to apply ONE of TWO equations
.
If the mechanic worked 40 hours or less then:
W(h) = 12h
.
Otherwise (he worked more than 40) then:
W(h) = 40h + 12[1.5(h-40)]
or
W(h) = 40h + 18(h-40)
