Write the linear function for which f (3)=6 and f(-4)=2.
Use y for the function and x for the values, and you get 2 points in the familiar x,y format (3,6) and (-4,2).
Now find the linear eqn passing thru the 2 points.
I use determinants:
x y 1
3 6 1
-4 2 1
to get 4x - 7y = -30
Email me if this is not clear, or if you prefer another method.
