8.9k = 17.8
--> k = 17.8/8.9
--> k = 2

i have put = everywhere, since "greater or less than" isn't really used..check the question.

I would like to add that the phrase "greater or less than" is referring to those values of k which make the inequality true. By solving for equality you have a value for which "greater or less than" is NOT true. So, the correct answer is any value EXCEPT k=2.
