Question 133736: HELP please...
Solve using the addition principle.
2x + 5 < x+4 (the arrow is underlined) The solution set is {x|x< ?}
Solve using the multiplication principle.
5x>-4 (the arrow is underlined)
Translate to an inequality
A number is at least 14
(the answer is ? ? ?)
Use x as a variable

Answer by dolly(163)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
2x + 5 < = x + 4
Adding -x to both sides,
==> 2x + 5 - x < = x + 4 - x
==> x + 5 < = 4
Adding -5 to both sides,
==> x + 5 - 5 < = 4 - 5
==> x < = -1
Thus solution set is {x | x < or = - 1}
(ii) 5x > = -4
Multiplying both sides by 1/5
==> (1/5) 5x > = - 4(1/5)
==> 5x/5 > = -4/5
==> x > = -4/5
Thus solution set is {x | x > or = - 4/5}

(iii)A number is at least 14
Let x be the number
Then x > = 14
good luck!!!
