Graphing
Convert to Slope intercept formula M being slope and b being the y intercept.
Add y to both sides to get it into a positive situation
Result
Minus 5 from each side to render y by itself on one side
or Slope intercept form of the original equation.
We now know one point on our line that will satisfy our equation. That would be (0, -5) Which is our y intercept (as indicated by the slope intercept formula, variable b.
Now we can locate our next point to graph by looking at the M variable which in this problem is 2 or 2 over 1 (rise over run). The reason it is 2 over 1 is that we must have a rise over run that will equal the 2 in the equation. Thus 2/1 equals 2.
Graph the Y intercept, (0,-5). From that point go up 2 units (rise) and to the right 1 unit (run) Graph that point. Connect the two points with a line.
