Question 121799: How would solve this system of linear inequalities by graphing?

3x - y < 2, x + y > 2

Answer by checkley71(8403)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
3X-Y=2 OR -Y=-3X+2 OR Y=3X-2 (RED LINE)
COORDINATES FOR THIS EQUATION ARE:
SET X=0 & SOLVE FOR Y.
Y=3*0-2
Y=-2 THUS THIS POINT IS (O,-2)
NOW SET Y=0 & SOLVE FOR X.
0=3X-2
3X=2
X=2/3 THUS THIS POINT IS (2/3,0).
X+Y=2 OR Y=-X+2 OR (GREEN LINE)
Y=-0+2
Y=2 THUS THIS POINT IS (0,2)
0=-X+2
-X=-2
X=2 THUS THIS POINT IS (2,0)
SOLUTION (1,1)
(graph 300x200 pixels, x from -6 to 5, y from -10 to 10, of TWO functions y = 3x -2 and y = -x +2).
