Question 121798: How would I solve this system of linear inequalities by graphing:
x - y < or = to 3 x + y > or = to 6
Answer by checkley71(8403) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
X-Y=3 OR -Y=-X+3 OR Y=X-3 (RED LINE).
TO FIND POINTS FOR PLOTTING SET X=0 & SOLVE FOR Y THUS:
Y=0-3
Y=0 THUS YOU HAVE THE POINT (0,-3).
SET Y=0 & SOLVE FOR X THUS:
0=X-3
X=3 THUS YOU HAVE THE POINT (3,0).
X+Y=6 OR Y=-X+6 (GREEN LINE).
HERE WE DO THE SAME.
Y=-0+6
Y=6 THUS YOU HAVE THE POINT (0,6).
0=-X+6
-X=-6
X=6 THUS YOU NAVE (-6,0).
(graph 300x200 pixels, x from -6 to 6, y from -10 to 10, of TWO functions y = x -3 and y = -x +6).
