we know that Angel has already sold $ worth of popcorn, and each bag is $
so, he sold bags so far
If he sells over $ dollars then he will earn a prize.

The other tutor didn't answer the question that was asked....

He has already sold $25 worth of popcorn; to sell $100 or more, the minimum ADDITIONAL amount he must sell is $100-$25 = $75.

So "b" additional bags at $5 each to make $75 or more gives the inequality

Solving the inequality gives

ANSWER: He must sell at least 15 MORE bags of popcorn to win the prize.

Angel is selling popcorn for a choir fundraiser. He has already sold $25 worth of popcorn. If he sells over $100 dollars then he will earn a prize. Each bag is $5.00. How many more bags does Nick need to sell in order to win a prize?

Write an inequality to answer this question. Use "b" for the variable.

Solve the inequality below

With each bag (b) costing $5, with him already selling $25 worth, and with him needing
to sell OVER $100 to win a prize, we get the following inequality: 5b + 25 > 100 <=== INEQUALITY requested
                                                                        5b > 75
Additional bags of popcorn he needs to sell in order to win a prize, or

He needs to sell OVER 15 MORE bags, and in addition to the 5 bags he has already sold,
he will then have sold over $100, and will win the prize!

Those 2 people are WRONG!!

While he will win the prize if he should sell 20 more, according to the woman who responded,
he just has to sell the minimum, 16 more, NOT 20, to win the prize.

The other person who responded claims that he can sell an additional 15 (at least 15), but that's not
so. If he sells an additional 15, he will NEVER win the prize because he would've sold JUST $100 worth.
