Question 12031: can you show me how to graph this equation
y
thank you
Answer by rapaljer(4671) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
y
First draw the graph of y = x +2. You should begin with a y intercept of 2 (up 2 units on the y-axis) and put the first point. From that point measure a slope of 1 or 1 over 1, which means to go up one unit and to the right one unit, and put your second point. Connect the lines, which should look like this:
Now, since this is an INEQUALITY with a "<" symbol, you will have to use a DOTTED line, instead of a solid line, and you will be shading everything BELOW the dotted line. (If it had been y > mx +b, then you would be shading ABOVE the line--No extra charge for that!)
Sorry, I don't know how to do this graph of an inequality in this format. YOU will have to draw the dotted line and shade the region below the line.
