Question 118638: I have re-done this assignment at least four times already if someone can help me out I would be sooo grateful I am clueless as to what I am doing wrong.
The Question:
I need to solve this equation (x²+3x-4) with the graphing method.
This is what I turned in on the latest try and I am still doing it wrong please help.
1. x²+3x-4
X Y
-8 36
-7 24
-6 14
-5 6
-4 0
-3 -4
-2 -6
-1 -6
0 -4
1 0
2 6
3 16
4 24
5 36
There was a graph I turn in But it wouldn't let me paste it here, it had one line on the graph and it was a U-shape.

Okay, first I'll tell you my trick for finding the mistake. I checked the first 3 answers- they were right. I noticed you subtract 12 from 36 to get to 24, and then 10 from 24 to get to 14. In a parabola, as the x coordinates change by 1, the y change by 1, 3, 5, 7..., or some multiple of that. So the next must be 8 less, then 6, 4, 2, 0, then add 2, 4, 6, 8,...
So, your mistake: (3, 14). Otherwise, looks perfect!
