general form of slope intercept form of the equation of a straight line is y = mx + b
since the slope is -1, the equation becomes y = -1 * x + b
your point (x,y) = (-1,-2)
that means the value of x is -1 and the value of y is -2
to solve for b in the equastion of y = -1 * x + b, replace x with -1 and y with -2 to get -2 = -1 * -1 + b
simplify to get -2 = 1 + b
solve for b to get b = -2 - 1 = -3
your equation becomes y = -x - 3
your y-intercept is -3
that's the value of y when x = 0
to find your x-intercept, replace y with 0 in the equation to get 0 = -x - 3
solve for x to get x = -3
your x-intercept is -3.
that's the value of x when y = 0
