I have a graph that I need help writing an equation for.

I'll do a similar problem using points (0,3) and (4,-2)

Find the slope m
m = diffy/diffx = (-2-3)/(4-0) = -5/4

Use y-y1 = m*(x-x1) where (x1,y1) is either point.
y - 3 = (-5/4)*(x - 0)
y - 3 = -5x/4

the general equation of a straight line is y = mx + b
m is the slope
b is the y-intercept.
the graph crosses the y-axis at y = 1, therefore, the y-intercept is equal to 1.
the general equation becomes y = mx + 1.
the y-intercept is at the point (0,1)
the other point on the line is at the point (5,-1)
the change in y from the point (0,1) to the point (5,-1) is -2
the change in x from the point (0,1) to the point (5,-1) is 5
the slope is the change in y divided by the change in x = -2/5
the general equation becomes y = -2/5 * x + 1.
that's the equation of your line.
