y < (-1/2)x + 5

Comment: It is not proper to say this is the slope-intercept
form of the inequality.
The BOUNDARY of the solution half-plane is the LINE y = (-1/2)x+5,
but you cannot describe the inequality as being in slope-intercept
form.

You do it exactly the same way you would do it for an equation, except that if you either multiply or divide by a negative number, you must reverse the sense of the inequality. That isn't going to happen in your example, but it is something to keep in mind if you work other problems like this.






And the graph would be a dashed line with a slope of intersecting the y-axis at 5, with the shaded area everything below and to the left of the line.
