Question 1150760: what is tha slop of x-3y=9

Answer by rothauserc(4718)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
the slope intercept formula for a line is
:
y = mx +b, where m is the slope and b is the y-axis interept
:
x -3y = 9
:
solve the equation for y
:
-3y = -x +9
:
y = x/3 + 3
:
therefore the slope is 1/3
:
slope is defined as rise(y increment) over the run(x increment), we can see this by looking at the graph of the equation y = x/3 +3
