Question 114620: Can you please explain this to me?
Solve the system of equations using the addition (elimination) method.
If the answer is a unique solution, present it as an ordered pair: (x.y). If not, specify whether the answer is “no solution” or “inifinitely many solutions”
3x – 11y = 9
-9x + 33y = 18
thank you

Answer by jgr45(31) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
3x – 11y = 9
-9x + 33y = 18
First, multiply the top equation by 3, and the bottom one remains unchanged:
9x - 33y = 27
-9x + 33y = 18
0 = 45
There are no solutions, because this statement is never true. The graphs for these equations will be parallel lines.
