Question 1145756: I would greatly appreciate help on the following question:
Given the function f(x)=2|x-4|+1 and g(x)=x^2-3x+3
Find the values for f(-2) and g (-2) and what does this tell us about the system of equations at x = -2
Find the values at f(3) and g(3) and what does this tell us about the system of equations.

Answer by Theo(13342)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
a look at the graph tells you what is happening.
you can also evaluate the equations at the indicated points to get the same conclusion.
the two graphs intersect at x = -2 and x = 3 and at no other points.
the conclusion is that f(x) = g(x) at x = -2 and x = 3.
that makes those two values of x the solution to the system of equations.
here's the graph.
first is a closeup of the intersection points.
second is a further away look to show you that those are the only two intersection points.
