It's a straight line.
Pick 2 values for x and find y, or vice versa.
Plot the points, draw a line thru them.
Answer by jim_thompson5910(35256) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
5x+2y=100
5*0+2y=100 ... plug in x = 0
0+2y = 100
2y = 100
2y/2 = 100/2 .... divide both sides by 2
y = 50
So x = 0 and y = 50 pair up to get (x,y) = (0,50) as one point on this line. This is the y intercept and it is shown as point A on the graph below.
5x+2y=100
5x+2*0=100 ... plug in y = 0
5x+0 = 100
5x = 100
5x/5 = 100/5 .... divide both sides by 5
x = 20
So x = 20 and y = 0 pair up to get (x,y) = (0,50) as another point on this line. This is the x intercept and it is shown as point B on the graph below.

-------------------------------------------------
Note: if you need to solve for y and get the equation into y = mx+b form (slope intercept form), then you could follow these steps
Subtract 5x from both sides
Divide both sides by 2
Break up the fraction
Reduce
The equation is now in y = mx+b form
We see that the slope is m = -5/2 and the y intercept is b = 50 as shown above (point A)
