Answer by checkley71(8403) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
THESE 2 POINTS ARE (-2,0) & (0,5)
FIRST YOU NEED TO FIND THE SLOPE
(Y2-Y1)/(X2-X1)
(5-0)/[0-(-2)]
5/2 IS THE SLOPE (m).
NOW REPLACE THE X & Y TERMS IN THE LINE EQUATION [Y=mX+b] WITH ONE SET OF X & Y COORDINATES & SOLVE FOR (b) THE Y INTERCEPT.
0=5/2*-2+b
0=-5+b
b=5 THIS IS THE Y INTERCEPT.
THUS WE HAVE FOR THIS LINE EQUATION:
Y=5X/2+5
