This is the rule to MEMORIZE:

          If the straight line is presented by an equation y = ax + b,
          then the slope is equal to "a", the coefficient at x.

Now apply this rule to your equations:

a)  y = 3x + 2.   The coefficient at "x" is 3.  Hence, the slope is 3.



b)  3y = -6x + 3.

    Divide both side by 3. You will get

    y = -2x + 1.  The coefficient at "x" is -2.  Hence, the slope is -2.
