Let l be the lenghth and b be the width.
A rectangular room is three times as long as it is wide.
=> l = 3b-------(1)
perimeter=48m
but perimeter of rectangle =2(l+b)
so, 2(l+b)=48
l+b=24-----------(2)
solving (1) & (2)
b = 6m
