First, to "create a suitable table of values" simply means to assign a value to the indepedent variable (that's x) and, using the given equation, find the coressponding value of the dependent variable (that's y) and make a table of these.
You don't say how many entries are required but 4 or 5 should suffice. Be sure to include value of x that show where the parabola intersect the x-axis, if this is applicable. (this will be true when y = 0)
To see if there are any x-intersects, set y = o and solve for x.
Set y = 0
Subtract 2 from both sides.
Take the square root of both sides.
or As you can see, the x's are imaginary values or so the parabola does not intersect the x-axis.
Here are a few values for the table.
x..(x^2+2)
0....2
1....3
2....6
3...11
4...18
