How do you find the average rate of change for f(x)=x^3-7x+1 from -4 to -2
Find f(-2)
Subtract f(-4)
Divide by 2 (-4 to -2 = 2)
f(x)=x^3-7x+1
f(-2) = -8 + 14 + 1 = 7
f(-4) = -64 + 28 + 1 = -35
---
f(-2) - f(-4) = 42
42/2 = 21
================
Do the same way.
then -1 to 1 and 1 to 3
