Left is negative run.
Slope equals rise over run.

Think of slope as a person walks down a road from left to right...if he goes uphill, it is a positive slope, and if he walks downhill, it is a negative slope...
In this case, notice the line goes downhill...we can call slope = rise / run...here the rise is 10 but the run is -2...the slope is
m = 10/-2 = -5
