how to find an equation for the line parallel to the line -3x+9y=-9 having the same y-intercept as 4x-9y=8
-3x+9y=-9
We have to find the slope so we have to get the formula in this form: y=mx+b where m is the slope.
9y=3x-9
y=(1/3)x-1
so, m=1/3 and any line parallel to it will have m=1/3.
the line must have the same y intercept as 4x-9y=8
x intercept is when y=0. When that happens 4x=8; x=2
now we have a point: (2,0) and a slope: 1/3.

is the formula.
