Question 1000524: Hello, could you please help me with this?
A helicopter that is 2000 meters above the ground descends at a rate of 2 meters per second. The altitude of the helicopter after t seconds is given by h(t)=2000-2t. I don't know how to figure what the range and domain are, or how to make a table and graph. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

The domain is the set of numbers that the independent variable can assume. Since represents an amount of time, what is the smallest value that makes sense? For example, do negative values of make sense?

What is the largest value that makes sense for ? How large of a number can you put in for before the function value would indicate that the helicopter would have to be below the ground?

The range is the set of values that the function can assume for every value in the domain of the function. Given the smallest and largest values of that you calculated above, what are the largest and smallest values of the function that are possible?

Write back with your answers to the above and I'll help you with your graph.

My calculator said it, I believe it, that settles it

--------------
h(t) = 2000 - 2t
-----
Domain ??
Since "t" is time it's values start at 0 and go up till the helicopters
altitude is 0::
Solve 2000-2t = 0
2t = 2000
t = 1000 seconds
---
So the Domain is "All Real Numbers from 0 to 1000".
------------------------------
Range ??
Since h(t) is the altitude, the numbers start at 2000 and end at 0
----
So the Range is "All Real Numbers from 0 to 2000".
