You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Using y=mx+b, the slope m=-2 and the y-int is 4. Start with the y-int, and go UP 4 units on the y-axis of the graph, and put a point.
The slope m=-2 really means
, which means that from the y-intercept that you just graphed, you have to go DOWN 2 units, and RIGHT 1 unit to get to the next point. So you have TWO points on the graph. Connect the points with a line, and it should look like this:
If you need more help with GRAPHING, please see my OWN website by clicking on my tutor name "rapaljer" anywhere in algebra.com. Click on my website which is given there, and look on my Homepage for the link "Basic, Intermediate, and College Algebra: One Step at a Time." Select "Basic Algebra", and look in "Chapter 4." In addition to a detailed explanation, with examples, exercises, and ALL the answers, many of the exercises are solved IN COLOR on the "Math in Living Color" pages that go with these sections.
Also, if you have trouble with GRAPHING, I have a video called "Graphing and Slope of a Line" that was made a few years ago in one of my classrooms, that can be viewed from my website FREE. To see the videos look on my Homepage for the link "Rapalje Videos in Living Color." Choose "Basic Algebra". Let me know if they help, or if you have questions--my Email address is at the bottom of each page of my website. Math is usually not as hard as it looks!!
