Question 100972: this a worksheet i do NOT understand. but if i know how to do at least one problem, i should be able to get them all. the directions are "Complete the argument, giving a reason for each step"
10. Given: (segment) JK is congruent to (segment) SH and (segment) SH is congruent to (segment) MN
Prove: (segment) JK is congruent to (segment) MN.
statement | reason
JK is congruent to SH ?
SH is congruent to MN ?
JK is congruent to MN segment addition postulate
i thought that the first two were given, but on the other ones it has given typed in, i found out the 3rd reason because our teacher gave us that one in class. I really don't know what to do, except we answer with a proof, properties, and/or postulates, and I appreciate your help.

Question 106621: Is anyone familar with Flow Proofs in geometry? I am trying to assit my daughter in H.S. geometry but, while I am pretty good at math, they didn't have Flow Proofs 30 years ago. What I would really like is the URL to a primer on Geometric Flow Proofs so that I can learn about them and help explain them to my daughter.

Question 111607: The distance traveled by a ball roling down a ramp is given by the equation s(t)=5tsquared, where t is the time after the ball is released, in seconds, and s(t) is mearsured n feet. What is the average speed of the ball for the time t=3 through t=4.5? Express your answer as a decimal to the nearest tenth.
I came up with s=15 for the 3 second time and s=22.5 for the 4.5 time. I plugged in the number to get 45 seconds and 101.25 seconds and averaged the two. I got an average of 73.125 or 73.1 feet per second. Does that look right?
I don't have the ISBN number for the Math Counts book; the teacher does.

: STATEMENT REASON
12-x=20-5x : Given
12+4x=20 : ____________________

Question 115274: I do not understand how inscribed angles in a circle works. My teacher asks me questions like to find angles of the stuff in a circle, then i get confused. she says that some are congruent and such, it is difficult for me. We use conjectures from the book Discovering Geometry, An inductive approach, and we are in the circle section. We are supposed to learn by our selfs using these conjecture. Please help

Question 117985: I need to write an indirect proof for this problem:
Given- AB is not equal to DE & AC is congruent to CD
Prove measure of angle B is not equal to measure of angle e
there is a picture of two triangles facing each other and sharing one point- the tops of each triangle and the letters read from left to right- top left point A, middle point where both triangles meet point C, then next top point is point D, lower right point E, then C again, lower left point is point B.
Sorry if that isn't enought info. but thanks for your help.

Question 118358: I am stumped on this proof. how do you prove that the midpoints of a rhombus make a rectangle? how can i write a 2 column proof on that? Please HELP!!! IT will be greatly appreciated!!!

Question 118278: I really need help putting this into a two column proof.
~ How can i prove that the midpoints of the rhombus ABCD (clockwise from top) form a rectangle MNOP (clockwise from top right hand corner)?
some of it is explained in this website: http://www.mste.uiuc.edu/m2t2/geometry/RHMRECT.HTM
i understand that if i extend B and N to meet, then i can prove that the triangle is congruent and the angles are supplemetary so the angles of the rctangle must be 90 degrees, so it is a rectangle. but what if it is a square? It wil be greatly appreciated if you can put this into a two column proof for me!! THANK YOU!!
