Question 940916: If m is the midpoint of AB, AM= 2x+4 and MB= 5x-8, find M(AB).
Answer by rameens_99(10) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
.A___________________.M___________________.B
AM= 2x+4
MB= 5x-8
AB= ?
So to get AB, you would need to find the total measurements of AM and MB.
AM=MB
2x+4=5x-8
2x=5x-12
-3x=-12
_______________
x=4
So now to find the measurement of AB, you need to plug it into AM and MB.
2(4)+4+5(4)-8= 24!!!
So the measure of AB would be 24.
