Question 736968: photo 20130412_093631_zps9a350166.jpg
I have to make a two column proof with statements and reasons from the picture above. We have to prove that triangle AED = triangle CFB. I'm assuming you'll have to prove that the lines are parallel and how that makes certain angles equal on both sets of triangles, I am just unsure of the exact rules.

You can prove triangles are congruent with SAS. You have one side and the angle from the givens. angle A = angle C, and AE = FC. The needed side equality is AD = BC.

Parallelogram converse: If both pairs of opposite angles of a quadrilateral are congruent, the quadrilateral is a parallelogram. ABCD is a parallelogram.

If a quadrilateral is a parallelogram, the opposite sides are congruent. Thus AD = BC.

The triangles are congruent by SAS.

Now that you know how to arrive at the congruent triangles, the two column proof is easy. When writing a two column proof first plan how to arrive at the conclusion. Then formalize the steps in the proof.
