generally, when you are solving a geometric problem, there are many different ways of doing so. it pretty much depends on what your teacher is looking for.. i would suggest googling waterloos euclid test and taking a look at some of the solutions for geometric proofs, as they will have more than one way of doing so with the same given information. As i said earlier though, it will probably depend on what your teacher wants, i.e if you have just learned a new technique and he/she would like to see you putting that technique to use, which includes all the given information, even though you could complete the proof/ question with a different technique
