1st factor out the GCF (greatest common factor)
2nd use the formula for factoring the sum of two cubes

2 is the GCF, so factor out a 2:

Recognize that the stuff in the parenthsis is the sum of cubes.

a=2 and b=xy, plug into the formula and you have:
