Question 389140: Is there an easier way to understand proofs in geometry? I'm so lost in class because I went late in the year and I can't catch up. I'm passing the class with a 65 but I'm bringing home 30's on my tests. I can't comprehend it and my teacher gave me the site, regentsprep.org but it doesn't focus on anything we're doing in class. Help please?

Instructions
1.
Take a quick look over the proof in front of you. You do not need to understand the proof yet. The purpose of this step is to learn the direction of the proof to see where it starts and ends.
2.
Make a large drawing with plenty of room for notes of the geometrical figure on which you are doing the proof.
3.
Use your pencil and copy down the first step. Look at how they got to the second step and try to understand the step by making notes on the geometrical shape on your paper.
4.
Since you know the end result, try to imagine a way to getting from your step to the conclusion. If you do not see it, repeat step 2 and 3 for the next step on your proof. Do this until you reach the conclusive result.
5.
Close the book and leave a blank sheet of paper in front of you. Start from the beginning of the proof and work your way to the end without looking at the instruction unless you absolutely must.
